EXPERTISE:

  • Interpreted 2D and 3D seismic surveys, most recently using interactive interpreter work stations. Areas interpreted include North Sea, Gulf of Mexico, Michigan Basin, Colombia, Venezuela, Egypt and Syria.
  • Managed a special projects group composed of ten geophysicists, physicists and mathematicians.
    - Evaluated interpreter workstations for the company and incorporated workstation technology into offices in Houston, Denver and The Hague.
    - Initiated the use of depth migration and applied technology as a service to the exploration offices.
    - Applied the latest technology that included seismic acquisition, seismic modeling, data processing and gravity and magnetics interpretation to exploration problems.
  • Made significant contributions in the area of seismic inversion, wavelet processing and depth imaging/prestack depth migration of geophysical data
  • Saved tens of millions of dollars to the company through the correct placement of exploration wells as a result of application of advanced technology, proper depth conversion and depth migration, application of wavelet processing to stratigraphic interpretation, etc.
  • Developed a three-day seminar on advanced data enhancement and inversion techniques, and presented it to all company geophysicists in ten company offices including five offices in foreign countries.
  • Represented Marathon Oil Company at four University and National Laboratory Consortia.
  • Authored or co-authored several articles that were presented at professional meetings. Published articles in both physics and geophysics publications. Authored numerous
  • internal scientific papers of a proprietary nature.
  • Multilingual (German, Spanish, some Russian). Extensive overseas experience, both traveling and permanent living.
